Beer Tasting Bill 5/19
First, I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to write and call Rep. Kennedy. I am once again amazed and proud of our craft beer friends who step up and help out whenever it is asked of them. It seems to be a long road ahead of us, but we won’t give up. Until SC joins the majority of the rest of the US and allows tastings, sales at breweries and appreciation of all things craft beer, we won’t stop. The recent passage of the microdistillery bill which (now along with wine) allows tastings and sales at the palce of manufacture, seems quite unfair and unconstitutional for beer to be the odd man out. Hopefully the powers that be will begin to see that better beer laws help all parties involved.
Stay tuned for the next episode of the hit drama: How In the World Is Craft Beer Not On The Same Playing Field As Wine And Spirits???
Call to Action for SC Breweries!!
Our bill sponsor Rep.Herbkersman brought bill 3693 in front of committee yesterday for a “unanimous consent” vote. ONE Representative voted against it. We need to educate him on the facts. Rep. Kenneth Kennedy from Williamsburg County. Here is his contact info. I suggest EVERYONE send him an email in support of the tasting bill and if you can give his office a call. An email will take 3 minutes of your time. Remind him that this is craft beer (not 40’s of Schlitz) and tastings foster an appreciation, exactly like wine (wineries in SC can already do this). You all know the reasons why tastings are important: commerce, small business growth, tax revenue…… Thanks for your support!
